Architect, Karen M. Duncan Bonner, AIA, brings over 35 years of architectural experience to her design practice, OBL Design, LLC. Whether designing residential, commercial or institutional buildings, Bonner ensures that each design project her firm undertakes is focused on meeting the dreams, needs and budget of the people it will serve. Founded in 1998, OBL Architects, PC  is now OBL Design, LLC  is headquartered in Solana Beach, California.

The diverse practice offers architecture and interior and graphic design. Bonner’s work blends a modern aesthetic, derived from her California origins, with an appreciation for the traditional, honed by her east coast training and extensive world travels. Her firm’s designs are known for their blending of indoor and outdoor spaces and their attention to crafted details.

 

Bonner is a Registered Architect and Certified Interior Designer in New Jersey. She is a member of NCARB and an active member of the American Institute of Architects, having served as Board Member and co- chair for the Women in Architecture Committee of AIA|Palomar, and the AIA Middle East Chapter Board and as a Trustee Board member for AIA Newark and Suburban (AIAN&S).

Bonner is also a professional watercolorist, a talent which helps her share her firm’s visions with clients. Her painting also influences her architecture; she loves the play of light and shadow in shaping a space as well as bold shapes and brilliant colors.
